In letter and spirit of RTI Act Selected Decisions of AIC

The Right to Information Act, 2005 is not merely a statute for enabling the citizens to obtain information. It has in it the grievance mitigation as the core content that empowers the people to complain or appeal against public authorities for their indifference, inaccessibility or refusal to provide information or if information given is incomplete, misleading or false or against destruction of information or obstructing in any manner in furnishing information.

The Information Commissions constituted under the RTI Act can not function like the post office in receiving and delivering information but ensure that the information furnished is complete, correct, to the point and timely. With a view to attaining this objective the Assam Information Commission sincerely strives to work out solutions in consultations with the parties concerned as mandated under Chapter V of the RTI Act in true letter and spirit whenever such matters are brought before it.

The selected decisions of the AIC in executing this sacred responsibility are listed herein for the benefit of stakeholders.
